On 19th November, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the withdrawal of three farm laws. Samyjukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), the umbrella organization of 40 farmers’ unions and associations stated that they “will wait for the announcement to take effect through due parliamentary procedures. If this happens, it will be a historic victory’’. They said their demand for a statutory guarantee of remunerative prices for all agricultural produce and for all farmers is not fulfilled yet. They also demand the withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill. According to the constitution and legal experts also, the government will have to bring a bill in parliament to repeal the three farm laws. Meanwhile, farmers’ collective SKM have decided to continue their movement. They will go ahead with peaceful tractor march to Parliament, every day during the Winter Session.
